How We May Use and Disclose Your Health Information

For Treatment

We may use and share your PHI to provide, coordinate, or manage your psychiatric and mental health care. This includes in-person services and telepsychiatry.

For Payment

We may use and disclose PHI for billing, insurance claims, eligibility determinations, and other payment-related activities.

For Health Care Operations

We may use PHI for practice operations such as quality improvement, record review, licensing, credentialing, training, and compliance activities.

Telepsychiatry Services

When providing telepsychiatry services, we use HIPAA-compliant platforms and implement reasonable safeguards to protect your information. Electronic communication carries some inherent privacy risks, which are discussed as part of telehealth informed consent.

Appointment Reminders and Practice Communication

We may contact you by phone, voicemail, text, email, or patient portal for scheduling, reminders, or information related to your care, unless you request otherwise.

As Required by Law

We may disclose PHI when required by federal or Maryland law, including for public health reporting, abuse or neglect reporting, health oversight activities, judicial or administrative proceedings, or law enforcement purposes.

To Avert a Serious Threat to Health or Safety

We may disclose PHI if necessary to prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat to you or others.

Business Associates

We may share PHI with third parties who assist with operations (such as electronic health records or telehealth platforms). These parties are required by law to safeguard your information.
